Malta is the birthplace of regulated online gaming being the first EU country to license iGaming in the early 2000s. Today, Malta serves as a European hub for iGaming companies, bringing significant revenues to the country and serving as the backbone of the industry, attracting the largest gaming operators and suppliers, as well as some of the hottest start-ups.

iGaming is on course to become a $trillion industry before the end of the decade. This makes it both a major industry and a highly competitive one. It is this competition which continues to drive innovation – in games, technology, user experiences, competition for talent and much more. Here in Malta, companies have built amazing workspaces to compete for talent. They have invested in state-of-the-art technology, including blockchain and AI. And they are developing new player experiences and games, including for mobile and virtual reality.

The industry may be competitive, but we are also keen to share information and collaborate wherever possible, for the good of the community and to grow the industry.
